BAE Systems has received a contract modification to provide engineering enhancements and technological updates for the US Army’s Bradley fighting vehicle.

Under the $34m contract, BAE will support engineering enhancements that include improved digital architecture, embedded maintenance training and integrated survivability improvements.

The upgrades will allow soldiers to operate vehicle combat systems to their maximum potential in providing survivability, mobility, lethality, protection and safety to soldiers.

The Bradley was designed to operate as an infantry fighting vehicle, cavalry fighting vehicle, fire support vehicle, command vehicle and engineer squad vehicle for US Army heavy brigade combat teams.

Work will be carried out at the company’s operations in Santa Clara and California, US, and is expected to be complete by December 2011.
