The military strike destroyed production buildings of an armoured vehicle plant, Reuters reported citing Interfax news agency. A military repair facility in Mykolaiv was also struck, the report added.

Russia is set to have used high-precision long-range weapons in the latest assault.

Separately, Interfax, quoting Russia’s defence ministry, reported that a Ukrainian SU-25 aircraft was destroyed near the city of Izyum.

The military attacks were conducted after the Russian Defence Ministry committed more strikes in Kyiv in retaliation to Ukraine’s strikes on Russian assets.

Reuters quoted the ministry as saying in a statement: “The number and scale of missile strikes on targets in Kyiv will increase in response to any terrorist attacks or acts of sabotage on Russian territory committed by the Kyiv nationalist regime.”

In February, Russia launched a ‘military operation’ on Ukraine. Subsequently, the West imposed strong sanctions on Moscow in response to the invasion.

Ukraine has also been receiving military and humanitarian aid from several countries as it continues to battle the aggression.

Last week, the US administration allocated an additional $800m worth of military aid for Ukraine through a drawdown of materiel from US DoD stocks.

The package will include howitzers, radars, armoured carriers and helicopters among others.

The Ukrainian troops are expected to require some training to use the new military capabilities.

Recently, Canada announced deploying 150 personnel to Poland to address the Ukrainian refugee crisis. Around 4.6 million people have left Ukraine since the Russian attack.
