Harris has received an order from the US Army to provide high-frequency radios for use in its joint biological point detection system (JPBDS).
Under the $9m order, Harris will provide Falcon II 400W AN/PRC 150 HF systems to JPBDS to detect and identify biological warfare agents.
The AN/PRC-150 is an NSA type-1 certified HF radio system, which provides continuous coverage in the 1.6MHz-60MHz frequency range, delivering communications in harsh conditions.
The system automatically communicates alerts to headquarters over HF radio links on detecting the presence of biological agents.
Harris Department of Defense business president Brendan O’Connell said the secure data transmission capabilities of the AN/PRC-150 will provide the US forces with maximum time to respond to potentially significant threats.
