Silvus Technologies has secured a second purchase order from the US Department of Defense (DoD) to deliver additional StreamCaster radios.
The company initially received an order in May 2020 to supply 1,000 radios. The second order was placed following rigorous integration and testing of the systems.
The company said that StreamCaster radios were selected for their low size/weight/power (SWaP) optimisation, scalability, and high throughput. The radios also support connectivity in contested environments.
Silvus did not specify the number of units ordered under the second contract, but said that it will lead to a ‘substantial increase’ in the availability of StreamCaster radios for US troops.
During trials in support of a DoD programme, the radios were subjected to electronic warfare jamming environments. Despite this, the Silvus’ interference avoidance capabilities enabled data transmission in the contested environments.
The company said that the StreamCaster radios met all threshold requirements. They also met or exceeded several objective requirements for the single channel data radio programme.

Silvus Technologies focuses on developing multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) technologies. The company is headquartered in Los Angeles, US.
Earlier this month, the DoD contractor Navitas Systems announced that it had awarded a contract to Ascend Elements to deliver cathode active materials.
