General Dynamics (GD) Information Technology has been awarded a five-year $565m contract by the US Missile Defense Agency (MDA) to provide infrastructure and deployment services in support of the ballistic missile defence system (BMDS).

GD will compete for task orders to provide professional services support for infrastructure and facilities planning and will perform programme management support, infrastructure logistics management and assist with facility standards.

The company will also provide operational fielding, sustainment and technical support for the MDA-developed systems for operational use by the warfighter.

MDA site surveys, interface with operational users and weapons systems sustainment from initial deployment through transition and transfer to the lead military service will also be assisted by GD.

The agency is developing a layered integrated BMDS that will be capable of destroying all ranges of ballistic missiles by engaging them in all phases of flight.
