Rheinmetall has unveiled a new variant of the Lynx combat vehicle at an event at the organisation’s Military Vehicle Centre of Excellence (MILVEHCOE) in Redbank, Queensland.
The new vehicle, named Lynx Combat Support Vehicle (CSV), is based on a version of the Lynx Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV).

According to the company, Lynx CSV is the most sophisticated and capable armoured vehicle made in Australia.
Rheinmetall managing director Gary Stewart said: “The Lynx CSV was designed by Australian engineers and manufactured at MILVEHCOE using Australian steel and our industry network of more than 100 partners.”
The Lynx CSV offers significant flexibility and can be modified to suit different mission requirements.
The vehicle features an additional on-board fuel capacity that can be used to refuel other vehicles in the field.

By GlobalDataIt also includes an interchangeable power pack, excavation attachments and a rooftop-mounted crane capable of lifting objects weighing more than 5t.
Lynx CSV’s modular remote weapon station can be equipped with a range of weapons and ammunition from 7.62mm, 12.7mm up to 40mm grenade.
Stewart added: “The Lynx CSV is a game-changer for armies and would enable soldiers to complete a range of missions while fully protected. With the CSV, soldiers can perform recovery, repair, manoeuvre support and support logistics using a vehicle with similarities to the existing Lynx IFV.
“The Lynx CSV will be positioned for export from Australia to allied armed forces.”
The introduction of the latest variant further expands Rheinmetall’s Lynx family of vehicles.
Earlier this year, Hungary placed a more than $170m (€140m) order with Rheinmetall Protection Systems to equip its new Lynx IFVs with StrikeShield hard-kill active protection system (APS).
