Israel has test fired an advanced ballistic missile from the Palmahim Israel Defence Forces base in central Israel, according to Defence Ministry.
"The test was part of an examination of a new missile currently being developed by the defence establishment," the ministry said.

The type of rocket mortar that was tested has not been disclosed, but media reports suggest it to be a Jericho III missile, capable of carrying a nuclear warhead and striking Iran.
Jericho III is an inertial guided mobile vehicle with a radar guided warhead and silo-based with railcar capabilities.
