The Indian Army is conducting the Sudarshan Shakti exercise alongside the Indian Air Force (IAF) to test its war-fighting doctrine in the Barmer-Jaisalmer sector, Rajasthan, India.
The 15-day exercise is designed to strengthen the war-fighting capabilities of the army’s Southern Command and the IAF’s South Western Air Command (SWAC) .

More than 60,000 troops, 300 tanks,120 artillery guns, various missiles and rockets, aircraft including Su-30 MKIs, Jaguars, Mig-27s, Mig-21 AWACS and helicopters will participate in the exercise.
New communication and battlefield surveillance radars that were recently inducted will be tested during the exercise by integrating them with the war-fighting assets of the IAF and the army.
The exercise aims to adopt ‘capability-based approach’ and the absorption of new technologies such as precision munitions, advance surveillance systems, and space and network-centricity.
