The US Space Force acquisition office has awarded a contract to BAE Systems to deliver Military Code (M-Code) global positioning system (GPS) user equipment to Germany.
It is the first contract from the Space and Missile Systems Center’s (SMC) Space Production Corps. The company will execute the order via the US Government’s foreign military sales (FMS) route.

BAE Systems Navigation and Sensor Systems director Greg Wild said: “When your life depends on GPS, you want to make sure you receive the signal and that it’s real.
“With adversaries trying to jam and spoof signals to disrupt forces and make precision munitions miss their marks, there’s a growing need for trusted GPS, which M-Code delivers.”
BAE said that the FMS order focuses on the company’s Miniature Precision Lightweight GPS Receiver (PLGR) Engine – M-Code (MPE-M).

It delivers precise positioning, navigation, and timing capabilities, as well as anti-jamming and anti-spoofing capabilities.
MPE-M also delivers a size suitable for space-constrained applications.
This year, BAE will provide the first MPE-M receiver for integration, test, and evaluation to Germany.
Programme work will be executed at the company’s facilities in Cedar Rapids and Coralville in Iowa, US.
Last month, the US Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) awarded a $325.5m multi-year contract to BAE to provide advanced M-Code GPS modules.
This contract will see the company deliver Modernised GPS User Equipment (MGUE) Increment 1 Common GPS Modules (CGMs) compatible with the advanced M-Code signal.
