QinetiQ North America (QNA) has been awarded a contract for the supply of a Condition-Based Maintenance Plus (CBM+) pilot system to the US Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command Life Cycle Management Command (TACOM LCMC).

Under the three-year $17m deal, the company will deliver analytical tools and autonomic logistics systems, which will help in the collection and analysis of operational data on 2,000 tactical wheeled vehicles deployed worldwide.

QNA engineering and life cycle management business unit EVP and general manager David Shrum said that the company’s experience with the army in field maintenance data collection would play an important role in successfully supporting TACOM’s CBM+ requirements under the new contract.

"Experience and our detailed knowledge of the customer and their mission will allow us to provide the US Army with a low-cost solution that maximises efficiency," Shrum added.

The CBM data and tools provided by QNA will enable the army personnel responsible for logistics, operations and maintenance of the vehicles, to offer more timely and precise maintenance decisions and integrated logistics processes.

Based on ISO 9001:2008, CMMI Level III and Lean Six Sigma certifications, QNA’s CBM processes, data collection, analysis procedures and tools are expected to provide the army with an efficient and cost effective CBM+ solution for the Tactical Wheeled Vehicle (TMV) pilot programme.

The CBM+ initiative aims to identify, encourage and coordinate military service plans to enhance operational availability and materiel readiness throughout the weapon system lifecycle at a reduced operational cost.

QNA has recently completed the delivery of CBM programmes for the US Army Materiel Systems Analysis Activity (AMSAA) and the Army Aviation and Missile Life Cycle Management Command (AMCOM).
