The US Army Chemical Materials Agency (CMA) has selected Tetra Tech as one of the prime contractors to provide support services for chemical weapons demilitarisation programmes at all facilities across the US.

The indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) order has a maximum value of $489m for all five awardees, and involves delivery of programme management and technical services to support chemical stockpile elimination, stockpile storage and the non-stockpile chemical material (NSCM) programme for a period of five years.

Under the terms of CMA programme and integration support V (PAIS V) contract, the company will support the CMA and the Program Executive Office assembled chemical weapons alternatives (PEO ACWA) programme, as well as helping the organisation manage its non-stockpile chemical material and chemical stockpile emergency preparedness programmes.

Tetra Tech will also deliver a range of programme management, integration, environmental studies, design, monitoring, operations and maintenance, quality assurance, and safety, as well as logistics support services to enable efficient destruction of chemical warfare and associated materials.

Other awardees include Booz Allen Hamilton, Shaw Environmental and Infrastructure, Teledyne Brown Engineering and Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), which has been supporting CMA mission to eliminate the chemical weapons at seven stockpile sites, ensuring public and environmental protection, for more than 20 years.

Work under the contract is scheduled to be primarily conducted at the Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland, US.

The CMA is responsible for safe storage of chemical weapons at Pueblo Chemical Depot and Bluegrass Chemical Activity, as well as closure of the Anniston Chemical Agent Disposal Facility (ANCDF), Deseret Chemical Depot (DCD), Pine Bluff Chemical Demilitarization Facility (PBCDF) and the Umatilla Chemical Depot (UMCD).
