Rheinmetall has started delivering roll-off tipper vehicles to BwFuhrparkService (BwFPS), a military services provider to Bundeswehr (German Armed Forces).

The delivery of these hook lift-equipped TGS 8×4 trucks is expected to boost Bundeswehr’s logistical capabilities and operational readiness.

Under an order placed at the end of last year, Rheinmetall will deliver 342 vehicles, of which 69 were already transferred.

The company is expected to supply up to eight more trucks every week, with deliveries expected to be completed by the middle of next year.

This ‘two-digit euro million range’ order further bolsters the position of Rheinmetall and its truck specialist Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles (RMMV) as commercial truck suppliers to the Bundeswehr.

Rheinmetall is also involved in upgrading Bundeswehr’s Marder infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs). The company was contracted earlier this year to deliver Saphir 2.6 MK thermal imaging aiming devices and Spectus II night observation devices for the Marder vehicles.

The addition of TGS 8×4 trucks is expected to enable Bundeswehr to transport materiel and equipment when Germany takes over the responsibility of Nato’s Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (VJTF) in 2023.

The vehicles will be stationed across major logistics units in Germany.

Germany’s Federal Ministry of Defence owns a 75.1% stake in BwFPS. The remaining interest is with Deutsche Bahn, a German railway company.

Recently, Rheinmetall announced the delivery of 40mm medium-velocity (MV) ammunition to the South African Army. The ammunition, which has a maximum range of 800m, is being supplied as part of Project Kamogelo.
