The Government of Australia has contracted a local company for mobile weapons training simulator as part of an ongoing effort to boost the domestic defence industry.
Under the A$4.1m ($3m) contract, New South Wales (NSW)-based InVeris Training Solutions will deliver and support fully digitised Mobile Weapons Training Simulation System (MWTSS).

The system will help Australian Defence personnel using the EF-88 assault rifle and other weapon systems to hone their skills.
As agreed, InVeris Training Solutions will deliver 14 simulators by July next year. Nine of these systems will be delivered to the Australian Army and the remaining five to the navy.
Australian Minister for Defence Industry Melissa Price said: “The contract includes the simulation system, associated training and systems which are compatible with in-service weapons, and then converted to laser-based simulators.
“This is another example of the Morrison Government’s continued commitment to invest in local companies to ensure we build Australia’s capability to equip and sustain the ADF in its defence of Australia and our national interests.

According to Sussan Ley, Member of Parliament for Farrer, InVeris Training Solutions has been engaged in the development of live fire and weapons simulation training systems for military, law enforcement and commercial customers since late 1990s.
Ley added: “The company employs over 50 staff and right now boosting or retaining jobs in the border region is absolutely vital.”
Earlier this month, the Australian Government launched a grants programme to support local companies in the defence industry sector to develop a skilled workforce.
