American Systems has been awarded a general services administration connections II contract for the provision of voice and secret internet protocol router network (SIPRnet) communications support services to the US Army Reserve Command (USARC).

The firm-fixed-price, single-award task order features a two and a half-year base performance period, and includes options which, if exercised, will bring the ceiling value to $56m.

The company will deliver operations, maintenance and enhancement services across voice and SIPRNet communications networks enterprise.

American Systems Design & Installation Services vice president and general manager Richard Tkac said the company will deliver operations, maintenance and enhancement services across voice and SIPRNet communications networks enterprise.

Under the contract, the company will deliver a broad spectrum of services, including operations, administration and maintenance of the USARC enterprise’s voice communications network, such as communications systems support, billing, circuit provisioning, as well as SIPRNet and service desk.

In addition to delivering lifecycle support for voice over internet protocol implementation, the company will improve operations and effectiveness of the Army Reserves’ nationwide PBX and SIPR communications network, including consolidated billing.

Additional contract responsibilities include the implementation of advanced communications technologies capable of enhancing the USARC infrastructure, with the aim to eventually lower overall costs and improve customer services in the command’s offices throughout the US.

Work is scheduled to be carried out at 900 USARC facilities across the US, including the Army Reserve Command at Fort Bragg in North Carolina, US.

SIPRnet represents the US Department of Defense’s biggest network for classified information and messages exchange at the Secret level.

It also supports the global command and control system, defence message system, as well as other classified warfighting and planning applications.
