The contract was awarded by the Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw) as part of a plan to form Nato’s Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (VJTF).

As agreed, the first 30 units will be delivered to Bundeswehr through the Nato Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) by the end of this quarter.

Subsequently, Hensoldt will deliver ten units per month. The deliveries will then gradually increase to 15 units per month and are expected to complete by 2023. Hensoldt will also be responsible for delivering spare parts and associated services.

Hensoldt product manager Nico Lubold says: “This order is the largest single order for boresight equipment for us since the 1980s. The fact that the tender process went so smoothly despite the Corona-related delays is due to the close coordination and excellent cooperation with the BAAINBw.”

The boresights are used to adjust firearm barrel’s bore axis with the target. According to the company, Hensoldt’s boresights offer simple and reliable handling and an experienced user can check the precision of the weapon system in a few minutes.

With special weapon barrel adapters, it can be equipped in any weapon system. The process also eliminates the need to conduct separate training sessions on different types of equipment.

Last month, Hensoldt announced that it is delivering three Spexer2000 3D radars and one Z:NightOwl M camera to the German Armed Forces.
