LCAD-SIM simulator

The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) has taken delivery of a new simulator package from Argon Electronics to help enhance the chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) response capability of the national armed forces.

Besides a significant number of PlumeSIM-instrumented CBRN training systems, the package also features associated simulation detectors, such as Camsim, AP4C-SIM and LCAD-SIM systems.

The delivery follows successful introduction of the PlumeSIM simulator at the UK Defence CBRN centre, located at Winterbourne Gunner in Wiltshire, UK, in July 2012.

Argon Electronics managing director Steven Pike said the delivery demonstrates the company’s ability to collaborate with customers in delivering a major project, even under extremely tight deadlines.

"We are extremely proud that UK MoD awarded Argon this important contract, and look forward to a continuing long-term relationship with DE&S,” Pike said.

Apart from improving training capability across the UK military’s various services, the introduction of the simulators is also expected to bring considerable ongoing savings to the MoD.

"The introduction of the simulators is also expected to bring considerable ongoing savings to the MoD."

In addition, the simulators will help the MoD in its efforts to reduce the environmental impact of its training, simultaneously maintaining operational readiness.

PlumeSIM is a portable table training system capable of preparing personnel for wide area CBRN/HazMat field exercises on personal computers/laptop, without requiring any system hardware.

Primarily designed for counter terrorism and nuclear emergency exercises, the simulator also supports the company’s spectrometer simulators, including Camsim, AP4C-SIM and LCAD-SIM amongst others.

Equipped with two simulation hydrogen cells, error reporting cards, survey nozzles, instructor remote and system carry case, AP4C-SIM is an advanced training simulator for the Proengin AP4C detector, and replicates response to all substance channels, including explosive atmospheres and electronic environmentally-friendly simulation sources.
