The contract will see the company delivering updates related to hardware, software and warranty for the satellite communications (SATCOM) terminals. It will contribute to significant monetary savings.

L3Harris Technologies Global Communication Systems (GCS) president Chris Aebli said: “This agreement extends the service life of our customer’s existing terminals and highlights the priority USSOCOM places on ensuring their deployed users are equipped with the latest in VSAT technology.”

The Hawkeye III Lite VSAT is a lightweight, tri-band flyaway system with quick-deployment ability. It is an auto-acquire terminal and used by the Special Operations Forces for direct communication from remote locations.

The US Army has taken delivery of more than 4,000 Hawkeye VSATs to date.
