Raytheon has completed the demonstration of its Patriot Air and Missile Defense System by test firing nine Patriot missiles engaging inbound and outbound unmanned air breathing targets during the annual Field Surveillance Program (FSP) conducted at McGregor Range in New Mexico, US.
Marking the system’s field readiness, the latest demonstration was the first FSP involving the use of Patriot Advanced Capability (PAC)-2 missiles, the latest Post Deployment Build-7 (PDB-7) software and the upgraded radar with radar digital processor.

Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems business Integrated Air and Missile Defense vice-president Ralph Acaba said that all of the company’s Patriot partners participate in the FSP as part of Engineering Services Program and contribute randomly picked missiles from their inventory to verify the integrity of the missiles in the field through independent assessment.
"Having each partner contribute a small number of missiles for testing is a cost-effective way to ensure the field readiness of the worldwide inventory of missiles that the global Patriot family relies on," Acaba said.
The latest FSP comes in the wake of testing the Patriot Advanced Capability-3 missiles at White Sands Missile Range on 20 November.
As part of the FSP, missiles from the US and several foreign military sales clients have been test fired during the year.
