The radios will be integrated on board a range of armoured fighting vehicles and tanks at the battalion and company levels.

Elbit Systems President and CEO Bezhalel (Butzi) Machlis said: “We are pleased with this contract award, which shows that customers recognise the advantages of our radio systems.

“We believe that there is a significant growth potential for our communications and command and control solutions as armed forces increasingly seek to build up their networked warfare capabilities.”

Israeli financial daily newspaper Globes reported that the radios under the contract are likely to be delivered to the Indian Army, citing unnamed market sources.

In July last year, India’s Defence Acquisition Council approved the purchase of 4,900 Tadiran radio sets for the T-72 and T-90 tanks of the Indian Army.

Elbit offers a range of tactical communication systems under the E-LynX family, which is based on advanced software-defined radio (SDR) technology.

The range includes E-Lynx Vehicular MCTR-7200MP-VD55 dual channel vehicular radio and 7200MP-VS50 single channel vehicular radio.

SDR is designed to offer secure and reliable communications on the battlefield.

Last month, the firm won a contract to deliver its precise guided mortar munition (GMM), STYLET. The contract was awarded by an undisclosed country in the Asia Pacific.
