Leidos has been awarded a contract by the US Department of Defense (DoD) for the provision of research, development, testing and evaluation for homeland defence and security technical area tasks.

Awarded by the US Air Force (USAF), the firm fixed-price, multiple-award, indefinite-delivery / indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract includes a one-year base performance period, four one-year options and a total value of $900m, if all options are exercised.

Under the terms of the agreement, the company will provide research, development, test and evaluation, and advisory and assistance services.

"We look forward to providing our expertise and our wide breadth of technical offerings to support the DOD IACs in advancing the solutions for homeland defence and security."

The services relate to research and development efforts within the chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) defence domains, as well as homeland defence and security, critical infrastructure protection, weapons of mass destruction, biometrics, medical, cultural studies and alternative energy.

The technical research and analysis task order contract portfolio is operated by DOD Information Analysis Centres (IACs), and is administered by the Defence Technical Information Centre (DTIC).

Leidos operations manager David Radcliffe said: "We look forward to providing our expertise and our wide breadth of technical offerings to support the DOD IACs in advancing the solutions for homeland defence and security."
