Russian military personnel have concluded the strategic command and staff exercise, code-named Vostok 2014, in the country’s Far East region.
A Russia Defence Ministry statement was quoted by RIA Novosti as saying: "Troops with the Eastern Military District, Pacific Fleet, air force, long-range and transport aviation are now on their way to the loading points to then travel by rail, sea and air [to their home bases], while the aircraft are regrouping to head for their air bases, and Pacific Fleet vessels are also regrouping."

The five-day exercise involved more than 155,000 soldiers, along with 8,000 units of military hardware, including more than 4,000 armoured vehicles, 632 aircraft and up to 84 ships.
The aircraft included Tu-22M3 bombers, Tu-95MS missile carriers, Ilyushin-78 tanker, Il-76 and An-12 planes, as well as A-50, Mi-8, Mi-24 and MiG-31 helicopters, and Su-24, S-25, Su-27, S-34, Su-30SM and Su-35S aircraft, ITAR-TASS News Agency reported.
Undertaken on the island of Sakhalin, the Kamchatka Peninsula, Chukotka, and the southern part of the Primorsky territory, the drill trained soldiers in repelling a massive air strike, combating an aircraft carrier, repelling a seaborne landing and several other military missions.
Preceded by snap combat readiness checks, the exercise represents the final stage of a series of command, staff and special exercises, drills, and surprise inspections this year, according to the news agency.
