An undisclosed defence customer in the Middle East has awarded a contract to Harris to support its military communications modernisation efforts.

Valued at $66m, the contract will see Harris supply several configurations of its Falcon III radios including the RF-7800H, the RF-7850M, the RF-7800V and the RF-5800H.

Additionally, the company will provide vehicular systems, base stations, spares, accessories and training.

Harris Communication Systems Tactical Communications president Brendan O’Connell said: "Our multiband, multi-mission radios will provide secure voice and high-bandwidth data across extended ranges and a wide variety of missions.

The RF-7800H radio will deliver expanded data capabilities for long-range, beyond-line-of-sight environments, while the RF-7850M will offer wideband communications and mobile, ad-hoc networking.

A narrowband HF tactical radio RF-5800H will provide data and voice capabilities for long-range, beyond-line-of-sight environment and the RF-7800V VHF combat net radio delivers capabilities that allow your forces to effortlessly operate across a network-centric battlefield.

Additional contract details, including the number of radios ordered and their delivery schedule remain undisclosed.

In August, the company was awarded a contract to supply its RF-7800 series of Falcon III multiband, multi-mission radios to another undisclosed country in the Middle East.

The $11m contract covers the supply of the RF-7800H-MP wideband tactical manpack radio and the RF-7850M-HH multiband networking handheld radio.
