The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has agreed to support the US-led coalition force’s ground operation against ISIS.

UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash was quoted by Reuters: "We are not talking about thousands of troops, but we are talking about troops on the ground that will lead the way … that will support … and I think our position remains the same and we will have to see how this progresses."

The Syrian government has called for strong resistance against any foreign army entering Syria without permission.

"We are not talking about thousands of troops, but we are talking about troops on the ground that will lead the way."

Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem said: "Let no one think they can attack Syria or violate its sovereignty because I assure you any aggressor will return to their country in a wooden coffin."

Media reports have revealed that Saudi Arabia and Bahrain would agree to contribute troops for a ground operation in Syria.

In December, Saudi Arabia formed a military alliance to combat terrorism in Iraq, Syria, Libya, Egypt, and Afghanistan.

The coalition will comprise 34 countries, including Egypt, Turkey, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Pakistan, Malaysia, and Nigeria.
