The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) has revealed plans to extend support to Multinational Force and Observers (MFO) in Egypt.
Approximately 100 troops from the Corps of Royal Engineers will provide engineering support to the multinational peacekeeping mission.

UK Defence Secretary Michael Fallon said: "This work will deliver important improvements to the physical protection of the peacekeeping base.
"It builds on our pledge to contribute troops to peacekeeping operations in Somalia and South Sudan and reinforces our commitment to peace and security in the region."
The UK Armed Forces personnel will perform works to upgrade infrastructure at the MFO main operating base in Sinai Peninsula, Egypt, for a period of 12 weeks.
The majority of the team are expected to be deployed in March.

By GlobalDataThe MFO is a peacekeeping organisation that oversees the terms of the peace treaty signed between Egypt and Israel in 1979.
The UK currently deploys an engineer officer to serve on the MFO commander’s staff.
A statement on the UK MoD press release read: "In the Strategic Defence and Security Review 2015, the government strengthened the UK’s commitment to international peacekeeping. This deployment further underlines our support to regional peace and security."
The MFO is currently supported by 12 countries worldwide, including the US, Australia, Norway, France and the UK.
