Northrop Grumman has secured a position on a $7.2bn engineering services contract to support Defense Microelectronics Activity’s (DMEA) Advanced Technology Support Program IV (ATSP4).

Under the indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract, the company will conduct trade studies, technology development and upgrades for a period of ten years.

The ATSP4 programme aims to develop advanced technology to resolve problems with obsolete or unreliable hardware and software.

Northrop will develop solutions for new and existing DoD weapon systems under the contract, which also covers design, fabrication, assembly, testing, integration, prototyping and limited systems production.

The other companies being awarded the contract include Lockheed Martin, BAE Systems, General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems, Aeroflex, Raytheon, Boeing and Honeywell International.

Work under subsequent task orders will be completed by 31 March 2028. The contract includes a base period and four options for all eight orders.

Administered by the Office of the Secretary of Defense through the DMEA, ATSP is managed by the Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems Program Management Office.

Under ATSP, government organisations will have access to technologies and engineering capabilites through leading defence industry resources and DMEA.
