Elbit Systems of America has received an indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract to provide mortar weapon systems for the US Army.

Valued at nearly $103m, the contract requires the company to produce 60mm, 81mm, and 120mm mortar solutions, including the legacy M224 and M252 systems, the lightweight (LW) M224A1 and M252A1 systems, and the carrier-mounted M121 system.

Elbit will also produce the M120A1 120mm towed mortar weapon system, which includes the M326 120mm mortar stowage kit.

Elbit Systems of America president and CEO Raanan Horowitz said: "We are extremely pleased to continue our partnership with the US Army by supplying our warfighters with the mortar weapon systems that enhance their mission effectiveness and provide the necessary lethality and flexibility to address current and future threats.”

The five-year IDIQ contract will support the army's product manager for guided precision munitions and mortar systems for US and foreign allied delivery requirements.

Under a memorandum of understanding with Elbit, the army's Watervliet Arsenal (WVA) will serve as a subcontractor for numerous mortar components.
