CACI International has been contracted to support modelling and simulation technology for the US Army, a move that could improve the armed forces’ information gathering capabilities.
Awarded under the R2-3G contract vehicle, the $31m contract is for the US Army Research, Development, and Engineering Command’s (RDECOM) Communications-Electronics Research, Development, and Engineering Center (CERDEC) Night Vision and Electronic Sensors Directorate (NVESD).

Under the three-year contract, CACI will support the development of realistic electro-optic/infrared and SIGINT payload modelling and simulation capabilities and training systems.
Use of these training systems will improve the readiness of the army’s airborne intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (A-ISR) tactical units, therefore resulting in improved situational awareness to army brigade combat teams.

CERDEC NVESD is involved in the research and development of advanced night vision and other sensor technologies, such as infrared weapon sights, and long-range surveillance and target acquisition systems to support military personnel in daytime, night-time, and limited visibility conditions.
