The XM395 precision mortar has been designed to provide brigade commanders with an organic, accurate indirect fire capability to neutralise targets on reverse slopes, as well as in narrow gullies, urban areas and other complex terrains where they are difficult to engage with low-angle fire, Orbital ATK stated.

The mortar's accuracy is said to help the commander to engage fleeting targets with improved success and reduces the number of rounds required to successfully defeat targets.

Compatible with all 120mm, smoothbore mortar systems, XM395 combines GPS guidance and directional control surfaces into a solution that replaces standard fuses.
