Safran Helicopter Engines and Thai Aviation Industries (TAI) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to support the Royal Thai Armed Forces (RTARF) helicopter engines.
Under the MoU signed at the Paris Air Show this year, the companies will provide maintenance, depot repair, inventory management and technical support for the helicopter engines.

RTARF currently operates Makila-powered H225M and Arriel-powered fleet of H125M, H145M, AS365N3+ and H155 in operation within the RTARF, Army, Navy, Police and Survey Department.
TAI is the main aircraft repair and maintenance service provider for the RTARF and the Thai Police.
Earlier this year, Safran and TAI signed a global support package (GSP) to support Makila 2A1 engines operated by the RTAF.
Safran aims to deliver services to guarantee engine availability, demonstrating that the GSP model is particularly well-suited to supporting the engine fleets of modern air forces.

By GlobalDataAccording to the company, the GSP contract optimises turboshaft availability, and enables military and parapublic operators to focus on their core activities.
It also guarantees availability at a fixed price per engine flying hour and provides the customer with high levels of autonomy and budget control, Safran stated.
Safran Helicopter Engines currently supports 243 customers in the South-East Asia and the Indian subcontinent through its Singapore-based subsidiary Safran Helicopter Engines Asia.
