Oshkosh Reports 43% Profit Increase

02 May 2008 18:53

Oshkosh Truck has reported a 43% rise in second quarter profit as strong international sales and demand for military vehicles more than offset higher raw material costs.

The company recorded a profit of US$72.6m, up from US$50.9m for the same period last year.

Sales rose to US$1.77bn from US$1.66bn.

Oshkosh CEO Robert Bohn says the firm's defence business has benefitted from "substantial requirements for heavy tactical vehicles".

"We expect this demand to continue solidly for the foreseeable future as there is an ongoing need for these logistics workhorses," he says.
