Latvia Orders Two Long-Range Radars From Lockheed Martin

21 December 2007 14:54

Lockheed Martin has won a contract worth US$44m to provide Latvia with two long-range AN/TPS-77 transportable air surveillance radar systems.

The radars, ordered by the Latvian National Armed Forces, will expand the capabilities of the BALTNET, the joint air surveillance network that monitors the airspace over and around the Baltic states of Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia.

The AN/TPS-77 is the latest configuration of the world's most successful 3D solid-sate radar design, Lockheed says.

"This transportable radar provides continuous high-quality 3D surveillance on aircraft targets at ranges of out to 250 nautical miles," Lockheed says.
