Thailand’s Armed Forces have announced a $550m cut to defence expenditure as the country wrestles with the ongoing Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic.
The cut to defence expenditure is part of a host of cuts across government to direct funds towards fighting the spread of Covid-19.
As part of the cut, the Royal Thai Army is deferring the purchase of 50 Stryker armoured vehicles from the US. Procurement of the vehicles is expected to be delayed until next year.
