Lockheed Martin chair, president and CEO Marillyn Hewson has said that the company is committed to continuing recruitment during Covid-19 outbreak. The company has advertised for 5,000 open positions and recruited people for nearly 1,000 positions in the last two weeks. It is also awarding its workforce by awarding them up to $500 and supporting its supply chain and small businesses with accelerated payments. It has also donated personal protective equipment and supporting health workers and first responders.

The Australian Department of Defence has deployed nearly 1,500 personnel as part of Operation COVID-19 Assist. The operation was announced on 1 April. The Australian Defence Force will contribute a range of logistical and personnel support in response to the pandemic across the country. However, the department noted that the defence forces will not act as law enforcement officers.

US Special Forces soldiers have been tasked to support the fight against the coronavirus pandemic by manufacturing masks for health workers. 1st Special Forces Group’s Group Support Battalion at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington has produced prototypes for reusable respirator masks, 3D-printed face shields, and surgical masks. It aims to produce 1,000 to 1,500 a week.

Dassault Aviation has placed a Falcon 8X and a Falcon 900 business jet at the service of the French Defence Ministry’s Operation Resilience. The aircraft are intended for logistics and medical support to help support civilian coronavirus control activities. The aircraft carried out their first mission on 5 April. According to the company, the two aircraft can be made available to the Resilience unit of the French Air Force’s Air Defence and Air Operations Command (CDAOA).

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced that the country is in contact with the reservists in the armed forces to offer them full-time jobs. The development is expected to take shape in the coming months. Trudeau noted in a daily briefing that the move will make sure the communities are well supported. Currently, there are more than 67,000 full-time members of the armed forces and nearly 31,000 reservists.
