The US Air Force’s (USAF) Covid-19 patient transportation system has been declared fully ready for operational use. The Negatively Pressurized Conex (NPC) is designed to enable safe transport of up to 28 passengers or 23 Covid-19 patients and teams of medical professionals to medical facilities worldwide. The NPC can easily fit into both C-5 Super Galaxy and C-17 Globemaster III aircraft. A smaller version of the system, called NPC-Lite, has also received fully operational certification and can be used on C-130 Hercules.

The US Department of Defense (DOD) has lifted travel ban in 48 states as part of its conditions-based, phased approach to personnel movement. All DOD service members, DOD civilian personnel and their dependents whose travel is government-funded can now travel to all the states in the country except California, Florida and Michigan. These three states have seen spike in the number of Covid-19 cases. The Secretaries of the Military Departments, Commanders of the Combatant Commands, and the Chief Management Officer will assess conditions at individual military installations for removal of travel ban at the installation level. Pentagon has also lifted travel restrictions to eight host nations
