The Royal Air Force (RAF) has completed the delivery of a field hospital to Accra, Ghana. An RAF C-17 transport aircraft carried around 130 metric tonnes of material required for the construction of the UK aid-funded field hospital. The nearly 130ft field hospital will have the capacity to care for up to 92 people. It will be used for frontline aid workers in the region. The delivery was carried out in coordination with Nato’s Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Centre (EADRCC). The flights were funded by the Department For International Development in response to a request by the United Nations (UN).

Naval Information Warfare Systems Command (NAVWAR) has evaluated the potential application of a new wireless tracking technology known as Testbed for “Internet of Things” (IOT)-based Privacy-Preserving PERvasive Spaces (TIPPERS) to Covid-19 mitigation. The technology has been developed by the Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Pacific and funded by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). During testing, the system exhibited capability to “correlate and display tracking data in near-real-time, exhibiting its potential for use in Covid-19 quarantine zone verification” and “proximity detection and retroactive contact tracing”.
