Elbit Systems of America’s medical device and life sciences diagnostics subsidiary KMC Systems has been chosen to assess US Navy’s ventilator designs. Under the Vulcan-5 Ventilator Project, five matured designs for ventilators have been selected. The evaluation is being carried out for manufacturability and components availability confirmation. The subsidiary recently evaluated an emergency ventilator prototype. It was developed by a team from the US Navy at Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division. The project is sponsored by the US Special Operations and the Wright Brothers Institute is managing the US Government funding.

US Southern Command’s (USSOUTHCOM) Joint Task Force-Bravo (JTF-B) has donated personal protective equipment (PPE) and medication in Honduras in response to Covid-19. The $52,000 donation was offered via USSOUTHCOM’s humanitarian assistance programme and includes KN95 masks, gloves, gowns, booties, head covers, disinfecting supplies and medication. The items will support the municipalities of Villa de San Antonio, La Paz, Ajuterique and Lejamani in Honduras.

USAA has awarded $4.5m donation to Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society to support sailors, marines, and their families affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. NMCRS president and CEO, USMC (retired) lieutenant general Jack Klimp said: “This incredibly generous donation from USAA will have a profound impact on the financial assistance and programmes NMCRS will provide to Sea Service families facing hardships due to this Covid-19 pandemic. We continue to adjust the services we offer to meet the needs of our clients, including our recently expanded COVID-19 Rapid Response Loan.
