US Department of Defense’s (DoD)  guidelines could ban coronavirus (Covid-19) survivors from joining the military, Military Times reported. A memo issued by the US Military Entrance Processing Command reads: “During the medical history interview or examination, a history of COVID-19, confirmed by either a laboratory test or a clinician diagnosis, is permanently disqualifying …” The memo is circulating on Twitter and has been confirmed as authentic by Pentagon spokeswoman Jessica Maxwell, according to the publication.

Italian company Leonardo has signed new credit facilities to further boost liquidity. The €2bn facilities have up to two years of maturity and were oversubscribed. The company now has a total liquidity of over €5bn that includes the new credit facilities, cash in hand and existing credit lines. Leonardo Alessandro Profumo CEO said: “Through this, we are further strengthening the group’s liquidity and providing additional financial flexibility in the changed economic environment caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.”

The Australian Government has decided to proceed with a modified 2020 Marine Rotational Force – Darwin (MRF-D) this year amidst Covid-19. Australian Defence Minister Linda Reynolds has officially communicated the news to US Secretary of Defense Mark Esper. The deployment was paused in April due to the pandemic outbreak. Those participating will adhere to safety requirements including the 14-day quarantine and other measures to protect against the virus.
