American rocket and missile propulsion manufacturer Aerojet Rocketdyne Holdings, through its philanthropic arm, has announced its plans to raise up to $750,000 for COVID-19 relief efforts. The money will be donated to community support organisations that operate in locations where the company’s employees live and work. As part of this, the Aerojet Rocketdyne Foundation has launched a campaign that includes direct funding from the foundation and an employee donation matching programme.

Dassault Reliance Aerospace Limited (DRAL) has resumed operations at its facility in the Indian city of Nagpur after the government gradually began opening parts of the country following weeks of countrywide lockdown due to coronavirus pandemic. DRAL is a joint venture between France’s Dassault Aviation and Indian conglomerate Reliance. The facility is located in a special economic zone (SEZ) in Mihan. It is involved in the production of components for Dassault’s Rafale fighter aircraft and Falcon 2000 business jet. Initially, the JV will function at a rate of 25% to 30% and gradually increase its operations.

The US Air Force has awarded three contracts to 3M, Honeywell and O&M Halyard for the production of N95 masks. The contracts worth $133m will add nearly 13 million N95 masks a month to the country’s supply in the near term. These awards are said to be the first Department of Defense-funded contracts using Defense Production Act Title 3 authorities in response to Covid-19. The masks will be collectively produced by the three companies in the next three months. It also covers facility and machinery conversion.

The US Navy’s permanent change of station (PCS) and non-essential official travel restrictions have been extended until 30 June. This move comes after the US Defense Department prolonged its ongoing travel restrictions and Stop Movement order. The order also includes authorisation of leave accrual for military members on active duty. In addition, approval has been granted for deployments and redeployments travel including US Navy vessels, embarked units and personnel. Local commanders will judiciously grant waivers for mission-essential travel on a case-by-case basis.
