The Indian Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has developed protective equipment for medical, paramedical and other personnel who are fighting the spread of coronavirus in the country. According to The Times of India, the research body has partnered with industry to produce the safety equipment. Some of the products being produced in different parts of the country include personnel sanitisation enclosure, a full-face mask, portable sanitising equipment, a bio-suit and more defence systems and technologies for CBRN agents.
NATO ’s newest member North Macedonia has received Covid-19 assistance from allies and partners. The aid comes after the country requested support via NATO’s EADRCC principal disaster response mechanism. North Macedonia has been provided with surgical masks, protective suits, test kits, medical supplies and other equipment. Members including Hungary, Slovenia, Norway, the Netherlands and the US have donated the items on a bilateral basis.
The US Air Force’s Travis Air Force Base is ensuring it maintains its military readiness along with implementing several actions to combat the spread of the viral infection. The base is currently being used to quarantine Americans who have returned from Wuhan, China. The location has sites to support Covid-19 testing and screening facilities. Some of the safety measures deployed at the base include touchless pickup procedure, markings to ensure social distancing, hand sanitiser, telehealth options and more.
Honduras Air Force has delivered Covid-19 rapid test kits to Central American nations and the Dominican Republic. 182,000 testing kits were donated by the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI ). A FAH-001 Legacy aircraft was used to deliver the screening kits after it arrived from South Korea. The Honduran government has also bought 250,000 more Covid-19 kits.
The US Navy’s hospital ship USNS Comfort and a US Department of Defense ’s care facility have started taking patients with Covid-19. The alternative care facility is located at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. These will serve to support civilian authorities respond to the pandemic crisis in New York. Comfort can house 500 patients and Javits Center up to 2,500 individuals.
