British defence engineering company Supacat has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with KNDS Deutschland (KNDS) to manufacture a range of light and medium protected vehicles in the UK.
The collaboration is part of plans to pursue the UK Ministry of Defence’s (MoD) Land Mobility Programme (LMP).
The programme solicitation has not been determined yet. It seeks to update and streamline the British Army’s land vehicle fleet.
The LMP project aims to phase out many existing utility, light mobility, and protected mobility vehicles, replacing them with a smaller number of standard platform families that incorporate digital capabilities.
As per terms of the MoU, Supacat will oversee UK-based manufacturing, design modifications, and support services from its new facility in Devon.
The partners will focus on producing variants centred on the Dingo 3 platform and the Armoured Command and Liaison Vehicle (ACLV).
The partnership aims to supply a range of vehicles designed to address future needs of the MoD for troop transport, ambulance, and command functions.
The MoU also includes a provision to allow Supacat’s HMT platform to be offered to EU nations via KNDS.
According to Supacat, the team up is in line with the UK government’s Defence Industrial Strategy (DIS) by strengthening sovereign manufacturing capability, supporting skilled engineering employment and creating export opportunities from within the UK.
Supacat parent SC Group chief executive Nick Ames said: “This promises to be a transformational opportunity on a number of levels, not least for Supacat which has been at the fore of UK innovation in defence vehicle design and manufacture, but for the South West region which is steeped in rich military expertise and knowhow. The opportunity for jobs, pan-European collaboration and shared economic development are enormous.”
In October 2025, AM General demonstrated three vehicles for the UK MoD at Millbrook proving ground in Bedfordshire. The demo signals the company’s intent to take part in the country’s LMP.
