QinetiQ US has secured a task order to advance the US Army's Integrated Sensor Architecture (ISA) programme, under the oversight of the Program Executive Office Intelligence, Electronic Warfare and Sensors (PEO IEW&S).

The $31.5m contract, with a five-year duration, advances the design and integration of the ISA initiative, focusing on enhancing interoperability and data sharing among sensors within military networks.

The ISA programme enables sensor-to-shooter communication, functioning across various security levels, and facilitating the identification and processing of sensor data.

Designed to be modular and adaptable, ISA supports a range of sensor types and is optimised for operations in compromised environments, incorporating security measures such as encryption and authorisation.

QinetiQ US will maintain its collaborative efforts with Army PEOs, defence entities, and international allies to ascertain evolving requirements for the ISA framework.

The awarding of this task order solidifies QinetiQ US's role as an integral contributor in the enhancement of the US Army's computational frameworks and sensory instruments.

With its specialised knowledge in sensory technologies and information management, QinetiQ US is positioned to deliver impactful advancements in the realm of military sensory operations.

The company's ISA team is tasked with developing new network services that improve sensor management, data processing, and intelligent analytics.

QinetiQ US National & Global Security Solutions executive vice-president and general manager Jonathan Riksen said: “The relationship between the Army C5ISR Center, PEO IEW&S and QinetiQ US dates back to 2016, collaboratively building distributed sensor data capabilities for the US Army and other organisations to support sensor interoperability.

“We look forward to helping PEO IEW&S manage the development, sustainment and procurement of the ISA to enable battlefield sensor systems to collect, disseminate and integrate data for command and control.”

This development follows QinetiQ's recent procurement of two acquisition systems from Celestia STS in December 2024.

This is intended to bolster the long-term partnering agreement with the Ministry of Defence, a 25-year initiative aimed at sustaining and advancing the UK's defence infrastructure.
