The contact is valued at around $2.9m and has a performance period of 12 months.

The army intends to provide soldiers with an agile and modular RF communications capability.

Referred to as a primary, alternate, contingency and emergency (PACE) communications solution, the technology will assist the forces in mission execution in congested and contested environments.

Perspecta Labs is required to develop, deliver, integrate and demonstrate an automated PACE solution under the contract.

The solution will leverage automation and intelligence to deliver an RF communications capability and will be able to optimally route data among available RF and networking technologies.

It will also improve communications resilience and enable the continuity of operations amid changing environments and threats.

Perspecta Labs president Petros Mouchtaris said: “Perspecta Labs will leverage its extensive expertise in tactical networking, RF communications and machine learning to design, implement and test this intelligent communications solution for the warfighter.

“We are excited to combine our breadth of capability to create a solution that meets tactical requirements for enhanced network awareness and improved communications resilience and efficiency, while also lowering operational burden for the warfighter.”

The company incorporated an intelligent decision engine into the automated solution to select from different transport mechanisms.

The PACE solution uses automated initialisation processes to remove the need for manual configuration.

Last week, Perspecta announced that it was awarded a position on a contract for the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) analytic support programme.
