Textron Systems has secured a $163.4m contract to supply 65 COMMANDO Select variant vehicles to Ukraine.
The contract was awarded by the US Army Contracting Command Detroit Arsenal (ACC-DTA) under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI) and the US Foreign Military Sales programme.

It covers a three-year period and includes one year of spare parts support. Deliveries are intended to enhance Ukraine’s ground mobility and defensive capacity.
The COMMANDO Select vehicle, produced by Textron Marine & Land Systems, is operated by a crew of three and can carry seven passengers.
The vehicle measures 6.62 metres (m) in length, 2.74m in width, stands at 3.022m in height and has a turning diameter of 21.3m. It has a gross weight of 17,237 kilograms.

Textron Systems air, land and sea systems senior vice president David Phillips said: “Textron Systems has delivered hundreds of COMMANDO vehicles to the US Army over the last two decades. The COMMANDO Select has demonstrated support to soldiers, serving as a combat-proven armoured personnel carrier performing secure personnel movement, military police and constabulary operations as well as command and control operations to support ground mobility missions.”
COMMANDO Select vehicles come in four variants, including an armoured personnel carrier with turret, an ambulance version, a 90mm direct fire vehicle, and a mortar carrier.
Armament options include a turret-equipped 40mm MK-19 grenade launcher or .50 calibre machine guns with M-36 gunner sights for day and night vision, or alternatively, a turret with Cockerill 90mm low-pressure gun.
Additional options comprise remote weapon stations and a 120mm mortar system.
