Austria-based Schiebel has established a new company in Australia to support the Pacific region.

Named Schiebel Pacific Pty Ltd (SPL), the base will serve as a permanent and comprehensive programme, logistics and sales hub in the region.

Schiebel Group chairman Hans Georg Schiebel Hans Georg said: “Establishing a permanent base in Australia, managed and run by Australians, is a logical next step for Schiebel as the Pacific region is of significant strategic interest to us.

“We already have a strong working relationship with customers in the area and are committed to growing our footprint, delivering outstanding support for our current contracts, providing end-to-end servicing to potential clients, and backing local value creation.”

The company, which is strategically located between Canberra and Sydney in the Shoalhaven, New South Wales, Australia, has been founded to help support the company maintain a ‘lasting and mutually beneficial presence’ in the country.

The parent company already holds several defence contracts in the region.

SPL will help support and service the existing contracts while providing a base for new ones.

Furthermore, the new company will also support and promote the local industry, both in the civil and defence sectors, thereby creating new job opportunities and generating additional revenue for the region.

Established in 1951, the company focuses on the development, testing and production of new and advanced mine-detection equipment and the Camcopter S-100 unmanned air system (UAS).
