Lockheed Martin has delivered the 400th M142 high-mobility artillery rocket system (HIMARS) launcher to the US Army.
HIMARS is based on the US Army’s FMTV truck, and has been designed to launch the entire multiple-launch rocket system (MLRS) family of munitions.
The system can accommodate a six-pack of guided MLRS rockets, or one army tactical missile system missile.
HIMARS enables the troops to engage and defeat artillery, air defence concentrations, trucks, light armour and personnel carriers, as well as supporting troop and supply concentrations.
US Army HIMARS product manager Lieutenant Colonel Frederick Hughes sai,: "The M142 HIMARS launcher is the system of choice for delivering precision long-range fire for our troops in combat."
