The Norwegian Ministry of Defence (MoD) has selected Thales Norway to provide the Norwegian Modular Arctic Network Soldier (NORMANS) digitised soldier system for increased effectiveness and safety while conducting operations.

NORMANS is an information system that enables data communications on the battlefield from the soldiers to the battle management system (BMS) in the information chain.

Norwegian MoD Secretary of State Roger Ingebrigtsen said that the system will provide the soldiers with improved situational awareness and enhanced navigation capabilities for effective mission planning.

The system has been designed and tested at the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment (FFI).

Thales Norway will be the prime contractor and Teleplan Globe will serve as partner responsible for delivering information systems to Norwegian soldiers over a five-year period.
