MEADS International (MI) will demonstrate advanced capabilities of the first medium extended air defense system (MEADS) launcher at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico, US.
During the demonstration, MEADS will launch the PAC-3 missile segment enhancement (MSE) over-the-shoulder to engage a simulated target that attacks from behind.
Nato MEADS Management Agency (NAMEADSMA) General Manager Gregory Kee said the test will demonstrate MEADS’ ability to launch interceptors 360° from a single launcher.
MEADS is a 360° air coverage, medium-range air defence system designed to protect combat forces and critical assets against tactical ballistic missiles, manoeuvrable cruise missiles, aircraft and unmanned aerial systems.
The system is undergoing integration and evaluation tests in preparation for the first intercept flight test scheduled in November.
