ITT Exelis has received a Wideband Satellite Communications (SATCOM) operations and technical support (WSOTS) contract to provide mission support for the US Army's wideband satellite operations centres and management sites worldwide.
The $121m cost-plus-fixed-fee contract, awarded by the US Army Space and Missile Defense Command (USASMDC) and the Army Forces Strategic Command (ARSTRAT), includes a one-year base period of performance and six one-year option periods.
Under the contract, the company will continue to provide support for the army's global network and computer systems for critical military satellite communications.
The contract also includes operations and maintenance support, life-cycle engineering, on-site technical assistance, equipment installation, depot-level repair, logistics, cyber security, and training and sustainment.
The WSOTS contract defines the requirements to provide USASMDC/ARSTRAT with site support and services for the Wideband SATCOM Operational Management System (WSOMS).
The WSOMS provides support planning, management and control for wideband global SATCOM (WGS) and defence satellite communications system (DSCS) satellite system operations, and supports other SATCOM services for satellites operating in the C and Ku-bands.
Work under the contract will be performed by the company's Colorado Springs-based WSOTS programme management office at various locations including the US, Germany, Japan and Australia.
The WSOTS will also provide support for the US Air Force (USAF), US Navy, Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), Australian Defence Force (ADF), and other Department of Defense (DoD) and non-DoD organisations facilities responsible for monitoring, configuring and maintaining the global WSOMS network.
Additionally, ITT also provides command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C4ISR), as well as technical services for US defence and government agencies.
