The Thales Copperhead armoured utility vehicle may be shortlisted for an Australian Defence Force (ADF) Land 121 phase 3 replacement truck programme.

The contract will be awarded later this year with an initial procurement for 300 vehicles, according to Bendigo Advertiser.

The Thales utility vehicle is one of the three vehicles, the others being Mercedes-Benz and MAN Military, that are competing under the ADF replacement programme.

The Copperhead single and dual-cab utility vehicles are based on the combat-proven Bushmaster platform.

The contract, if awarded, would also enhance Thales’s chances of success with the Hawkei light protected mobility vehicle programme.
