AgustaWestland has delivered the first of four AW119Ke single-engined helicopters for the Finnish Border Guard (FBG).

The delivery marked the first AW119Ke to enter service in the European law enforcement and homeland security helicopter market.

The FBG’s helicopter variants are fitted with tactical equipment to perform missions using night vision goggles (NVGs) and will operate from Helsinki and Rovaniemi (Arctic Circle) bases, covering the entire Finnish / Russian border.

The helicopters will be used to perform various tasks including border patrol, special operations and firefighting.

The helicopter variant has a patrol time of approximately five hours and has the largest cabin in its class, which can be reconfigured for different missions.

The FBG will be provided with a training and support package as part of the contract.
